O-1 Visa Overview

The O-1 nonimmigrant visa is for individuals who possess extraordinary ability and have demonstrated sustained national or international acclaim in sciences, arts, education, business, athletics, or the motion picture and television industry. You must be coming temporarily to the United States to continue work in your area of extraordinary ability.

Eligibility Requirements

4. Judging

Serving as a judge of the work of others in your field, individually or on a panel.

5. Original Contributions

Making original scientific, scholarly, or business-related contributions of major significance.

6. Authorship

Authoring scholarly articles in professional journals or other major media in your field.

7. Employment

Being employed in a critical or essential capacity for organizations with distinguished reputations.

8. Remuneration

Commanding a high salary or other remuneration for services compared to others in your field.

Application Process

Petition Filing

A U.S. employer or agent must file Form I-129, Petition for Nonimmigrant Worker, with USCIS.
